Match Report

A second half strike from Matt Simm was enough for the Creeksiders to take all three points away in the New Forest against Brockenhurst. Pete Stiles gave a debut for Gary Austin on his return to the club, having signed earlier in the week from Moneyfields

Town got off to a sluggish start and 5 minutes in and Harding pulled off an excellent save when Tickle struck a long range effort.

Ten minutes later the visitors Fareham survived another scare from Brockenhurst when forward Nwachuwu struck a vollyed effort from 4 yards out but luckily the ball flew over the bar.

20 minutes in and Fareham had their first effort but Davis blasted his effort way over the bar.

On the half hour mark the hosts Brockenhurst had another chance to score when early substitute Aaron Dunne who replaced former Town player Matt Burt, latched onto a corner kick but his free header was placed wide of the goal much to the relief of Harding and his Fareham defence.

37 minutes and Town winger Matt Simm had a chance but his effort was blocked down by the Brockenhurst defence and won Fareham a corner kick.

Fareham started the second half the brighter of the two teams and on 47 minutes Davis volleyed his effort over the bar from a corner kick that was taken by Holmes. Then two minutes later Gary Austin struck his low shot narrowly of the Brockenhurst goal.

However on 55 minutes Fareham got their deserved reward to go 1-0 ahead when Austins initial effort was cleared off the line. from the resulting clearance the ball was scrambling around in the penalty area and the ball fell to Simm and he calmly slotted the ball into the net from five yards.

75 minutes and Fareham nearly made it 2-0 when Holmes struck a fizzing free kick shot which forced Brockenhurst keeper Kitcher into a low diving save, and it was Kitcher again who foiled holmes on 81 minutes making a fine save low to his left.

84 minutes and Fareham had a disallowed goal when from a corner kick the ball reached Austin and his reinactment of Maradona 'shand of god effort was chalked off!

Five minutes later Austin successfully rounded Kitcher however his effort was blocked off the line by a Brockenhurst defender.

My View On The Match: Very much a game of two halfs. But we were much better in the second half. Both the pitch and weather conditions were not great today but I thought we coped really well under the circumstances. Pete and Co can be very pleased with todays performance. COYR! RED AND BLACK ARMY!
