Reserves 4 - 1 Newport IOW

Away | 25 November 2017
Newport 1 Fareham Town 4

Not at our best but got the job done in the end on a tough bobbly pitch to play on. Started off well enough got an early goal Bradley Silvester on the score sheet yet again that’s 10 goals in 8 games now. We were then dominating the game and possession but not really getting out of 1st gear. Newport were not really causing us any problems but they were awarded a free kick which we just didn’t deal With the ball into the box and they got level. The rest of the 1st half was very poor we couldn’t put anything decent together and the energy levels were poor but the opposition wasn’t much better and we went in 1-1 at half time.

After a bit of a moan at the players at half time they come out 2nd half much more like the team we can be moving the ball quickly switching the play more using both wings and the Work rate on and off the ball was much better. It wasn’t long before we got our reward a great run from Tommy Tierney who squared it to Naz Stone to superbly finish from the edge of the box into the bottom corner. Tommy then got himself on the score sheet with another fantastic finish driving forward then unleashing an unstoppable strike from 20 yards right into the top corner.

We were then in total control the defence not letting Newport have a sniff at our goal and we were keeping the ball really well and we finished the game of with a 4th. A lovely ball in from the right from Henry Jordan for Naz to get on the end of for his 2nd. Newport ended the game with 10 men having a man sent of for a 2nd bookable offence and it finished 4-1 with what was a comfortable victory.

Todays man of the match went to Tommy Tierney who hasn’t had a bad game yet this season the lad is different class.

All in all it was a good day out and worth while trip over to the island coming home with another 3 points and our 8th win in a row which at this level takes some doing well done lads.
