Fareham Town FC 0 - 0 Alresford Town

Away | 08 September 2018 | Attendance: 71
Town continued their recent good form with a hard-earned point in an entertaining 0-0 draw at Alresford Town.

Whilst the draw was a fair reflection on the game, how neither side scored will be one for Arthur C Clarke and his mysterious world programme as both sides could easily claim they could have scored at least 4.

Town were giving league debuts to Will Capper, Bobby Scott, Junior Kamara and 16 year old Kai Sterne was named on the subs bench.

Town had the early pressure but the first real chance fell to Dockree of Alresford but his effort crashed against the bar.
A free header from a corner shortly after and Alresford could have been out of sight, but Town looked dangerous on the break and had penalty appeals turned down when first Tattersall and then Robbins were bundled over.

Shortly before half time - Kempson in the home goal made the first of several good saves from Robbins effort.

The Creeksiders started the brighter in the 2nd half and twice in the space of a minute Scott put efforts wide of the goal, the 2nd in particular he would be disappointed not to get on target.

Alresford substitute Hill was causing Town problems with his pace and Town were relieved that from one of his low crosses an Alresford forward blasted their effort over the bar.

Scott then got closer to scoring with a 25 yard rasper which crashed against the bar and Kempson quickly made a fine reaction save from Jones after he burst clear. It was understandable for Jones to want to go at goal, but both Tattersall and Kamara were lined up unmarked for a tap in if only he'd looked up.

Town had a huge let off on 88 minutes and it was from our own corner, which was shambolic and Hill ran the length of the pitch, but Harding made a fine save with his legs and Hill put the follow up well wide, but that wasn't the end of the action as in injury time Kamara burst through and Kempson again blocked his effort and it was hacked clear for a corner.

Afterwards Town stand in manager Terry Gibson gave his thoughts. "I thought we played well in parts and that's a useful point and clean sheet at a difficult place to get a result." "We had some good chances to win it and it sets us up well for our FA Vase game next Saturday."
