Fareham Town secured a narrow 1-0 home victory over Hamble Club on a lovely sunny day at Cams Alders. Nathan Paxton scoring his first goal for the club.

8 minutes into the match Austin pulled his effort wide after being set up by Tattersall. Then three minutes after the Creeksiders had another chance when Tigwell launched an excellent throw in into the box and the ball reached Kamara who skied his effort over the bar. On 20 minutes Kamara dribbled expertly into the box and his low shot forced Anderson into a low diving save. Then on 27 minutes Austin blazed his shot over the bar. Five minutes later Tattersall shot his effort straight the the hands of Anderson. Then a minute later Hamble’s Sykes shot wide of the goal after getting into a good position. On 37 minutes Benjamin displayed some excellent defending for the Creeksiders as he blocked down an effort from Lemesurier. Six minutes later the same player skied his effort way over the bar.

On 48 minutes former Creeksider, Doug Rowe forced Harding into an excellent diving save at the right side of the goal. On 55 minutes Tigwell blazed his free kick effort over the bar. Three minutes later Settle struck a low range shot but it was placed straight into the hands of Anderson. Then on 64 minutes Hamble substitute Wilson shot straight into the hands of Fareham keeper Harding. On 73 minutes Fareham scored the only goal, thanks to substiute Paxton who dribbled into the box found some space and his low shot was slotted beautifully into the right hand corner of the goal his first goal in a Creeksiders shirt. On 80 minutes Paxton nearly got his 2nd goal of the game for Fareham only this time his low shot was saved well by the Hamble keeper with a low diving save.

Afterwards Pete Stiles, was content. “After Tuesday, I was looking for a reaction, and the lads certainly gave one today. It wasn’t pretty and one goal was probably going to win it, but we were solid for most of the game rarely giving them a decent look at goal.” “When you also consider who we had missing today as well, it stands us in good stead for some more difficult games coming up.”
